WAS HE HAPPY OR MISERABLE? -task 5

Of course, we are still talking about our "friend" CHRISTOPHER.

TODAY YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO QUESTIONS (1,2)!

1.CHOOSE SOME OF THESE QUESTIONS, ANSWER THEM AND SUPPORT YOUR ANSWERS WITH AN EXPLANATION.

Was he a happy or unhappy teenager?
Do you like him or not?
Did he achieve what he wanted to, or not?
Is the book funny or sad?
Is it about an autistic child or about the life of a family?
Does it have a happy or a sad ending?
Would you like it to be made into a film?
Would you recommend it to anyone?
Do you think it is a good choice for the matura exam?
If not, what would you like to read?

2. IF YOU WERE A PARENT OF A "CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS", HOW WOULD YOU RECOGNIZE AN AUTIST? Maybe you know one. If so, describe him/her.

This is the last task about The Curious Incident...

I hope you enjoyed the tasks?! SEE YOU...

Yes, i know it's plural, but that's my middle name and I like it ;) sounds good.

Anyways, he was happy teenager in one way, cause he almost always got what he wanted, he was a spoilt child-pampered person. But he also had its bad sides like he didnt understand a lot of things he saw or happened to him.I don't like him, cause i hate spoilted children. On the end of the book he said he can achieve everything, and
he did, he solved the mystery.Book is none of that, it's neutral for me, funny sometimes, sad sometimes.
Book is about the life of a family WITH an autistic child :)
No, movie would be awful, the kid would look stupid too much.
I would recommend the book to younger people like us.
No. It's not a good choice for the matura exam, i would like to read
the real mysterys, thrillers, maybe
books of David Lynch and so on, more on standard of our age, not 10year olds.

But on the end, that's just IN MY OPINION.. everybody has it's own

cheers

Do I like him? hmm... I could not say that. i get so nervous when i read this book cuz he is soo
precise when he is describing something. I know that he is doing that cuz of his autism but i still can't bear it.Some things are interesting to read cuz i think that i would never notice such a small thing, but others are just too much.I know that i wouldn't read this kind of book if it wasn't necessary. But what can i do. I agree with reconquistadorres the movie would be awful...cuz i can't imagine how would it look like...the most of the movie would be happening in his head...cuz he is got soo much things going on
is his head it would be just to boring...for me anyway cuz
I prefer action movies or thrilles.

I didn't know you had such a bad opinion about the book. It must be hard to read it if you don't like it! But we are almost at the end of it, aren't we? :) Nice comments, though!!

Hello to everybody! it's the first time i'm writing here and it's nice to see what people mean about the book. i think it is very good 'couse we see children and also people with special needs- autistic people. haw they think and every thing about them. it's a very good boog even for the matura exam 'couse it's very easy to understand and it's interesting story. and about the film... i don't know. i saw a movie Rain man- about a man with the same problems as Christopher and it was very good. but that story is completly different. i mean i would be nice to see a film just like we were looking a show in theater Look back in anger. it was realy good. so we have to wait to see if someone wiil do a film.
yes, he was happy teenager. he didn't understood a lot of things but he imagined in the other way, on his own way. i think that he was a very dificult child but he can also be a good friend. he always told you the thru and that's relly inportant.

so...that's my opinion!
have a good time and good night

Urša, although it is time to go to bed, I would like to say that you are welcome! I'm glad you like the book a little more than your clssmates. The film is already preparing, but I'm sure we won't see it before the matura exam. So keep reading and studying. SWEET DREAMS!

Hello...I think the book is good for matura exam but it could be better also. For students who have problems with English is a great choise because is written very understandable. I don`t like the whole book, just some parts. On one pages I just can not stop reading it but on the other pages I could just go to sleep:). I like the main charather because of his thinking and will that he has. On the other hand I would change other charathers and the whole story actually. Investigating a murder of a dog or person is unusuall for a 15 year old kid and not interesting at all. Maybe it´s a little bit childish.I like the part when Christopher found the letters and started to wonder about his mother and if she is still alive.I would make a movie if I could change the script and change some parts to make it more exited!have fun....bye*neža

I think the book is suitable for matura exam, because it includes all generations in which all of us had different interests and in that book everyone has chance to find something which interests him/her... You must look after students, who have problems reading english books.
I also think, that he was happy teenager (mostly). but who hasn't got problems? Bad days, weeks, or even years:)...What his mother did, wasn't right, but anyway, that happens every day and in the course of time you get used to. You must make your life beutiful and interesting on what you have, and not on what you could have...

Hey!

Well, I am here the first time and I like it. Becouse in that way we can tell our opinion about the book and we can make better our english. This is good exercise. So, i will be glad if we can go on with this.

about the book...I don`t read a lot becouse I don`t have time for this. In school usually we get boring books and nobody have a will for reading. But this book isn`t one of that books. It is verry interesting. We can see what are people with this illness. And this boy tells this story in very interesting way. It attracts us.
It would be grat if we could see the film. Although I don`t know if it exists.
So, it is interesting for me and will read it till end becouse I want to know what it will happend with this boy.

Nice reading to everybody!

Have a good time!

his parents are really patient-well just his father, but i understand his mother too!!It`s hard to have a child with special needs!!

Christopher. That name is going to stay in my memory for ever. And not because we talked so much about this book but because he is so interesting, so unusual. He is a happy teenager. Why? He does things that he is interested in, he has a great father, he is investigating, and finally he has dreams. And the last ones are pushing him to move on. He needs so little to be happy.Sure, he has problems, crisis but that is normal, we all have it, don't we.
I think that book is not only about a teenager and also not about the family life, it is about all together and much more-it's about society, it is about things that really happen in THE real life and that our society is so much avoiding to talk about it. I mean who wants to talk about broken family, about a child who isn't ''normal'', who has special needs. No one, right? That is why I like this book. It talks about things people don't want to hear about , or even less- don't want even to know that those things really exist.

ALENKA, I see you persuaded some classmates to start writing. Good job! I like your ideas about the book.
NEŽA Actually, two versions of the book were written, one for adults and one for children so you might as well find it childish at times...
KAJČI AND INGRID DO read it to the end. It is really nice to see what happens.
MAJA I'm happy you like the jokes. They are really entertaining, for the reasons you give.
